MRV Architects
MRV Architects is one of the oldest architecture firms in Alaska. Though our design expertise is centered around schools, libraries, museums and commercial buildings, our experience is diverse. Our award-winning project portfolio attests to the firm’s successes in a wide array of project types.
Throughout the years, our staff has always been made up of multi-disciplinary artists that can’t help but be inspired by the beautiful place we call home. This show will include a variety of media, created by architects and designers at MRV Architects.

Paul Voelckers
Paul has been with MRV Architects since 1981 and has been involved with some of the largest and most complex planning and architectural projects in the region. As an artist, Paul has exhibited previously at the JAHC, both in group shows with Plein Rein, and individually. Previous exhibits have included both paintings and ceramics works.
For this show, he created new watercolor work which includes building subjects, and partnered with his wife, Mary Pat Wyatt, on a collection of ceramic objects, such as plates and bowls and carved pieces.

Zane Jones
Zane joined MRV during the summer of 2011 and subsequently became hooked on Juneau because of easy access to the outdoors and the professional opportunities at MRV. After finishing his M. Arch degree from The Design School at Arizona State University, he returned in 2012 as a full-time employee.
Outside of the office, Zane takes part in multiple community organizations. He serves as Board Secretary for the Alaska Design Forum, which brings a world class lecture series of architects and designers to Alaska. Zane enjoys the unique opportunities Juneau provides, both professional and cultural.
Juneau’s juxtaposition of pristine wilderness against its vibrant cultural scene provides both inspiration and context for his creative explorations. Zane’s impressionistic approach favors evocative color palettes over strict realism, inviting viewers to experience familiar environments through a more colorful lens.

Margaret Morgenstern
Margaret joined MRV in September of 2023 after stopping in to say ‘hello’ while on vacation. After a traveling to Norway, Margaret began chasing mountains as often as they could while pursing a bachelor’s and master’s degree in architecture. Throughout that time, they have explored various media to interpret their environment and reflect the peace and stillness they feel when surrounded by a grand landscape. For this show, Margaret explores their burgeoning relationship with Alaska through a concise collection of watercolor, woodblock prints, and cross stitch.

Tim Troll came to Alaska in 1978 after graduating from law school in Kansas to serve as a VISTA volunteer lawyer in Bethel. He has spent many of his nearly 50 years in the state living in Southwest, Alaska or working for organizations that serve its people. The region also provides focus for his artwork. He is currently the Executive Director of the Bristol Bay Heritage Land Trust, an organization he helped found in Dillingham in 2000. The Land Trust has fostered permanent conservation protection for over 80,000 acres of fish and wildlife habitat in Bristol Bay, some of which is depicted in the landscapes in this small exhibit.
